Heya everyone,

Well, I'm new to the subaru conversion world and also to DIY... But I'm enjoying the headaches so far!
I have a 1985 Vanagon which is currently K.O. I've been told that my tranny and/or engine is buggered... So I'm taking the opportunity to put in a 93-94 EJ20 2.0 Turbo in  Grin .

I've done some research and been informed that changing my autmatic transmission to a manual would give me more options/better performance. I've decided that because I don't drive that fast, and I don't have the money available, sticking with my auto suits me fine for now--I might eventually change the whole trans, but not now.

I've read the info that is already on the forums and I haven't seen any follow-ups with conclusions about the ring and pinion swap... I've also heard something about rebuilding with Audi parts but I have no idea what that entails...

So, since my trans might need rebuilding, I might as well rebuild it so that it works a little better with the new engine right? My question is, what are my options, and what are the pros/cons of these options?

All advice and info is very much appreciated  Cheesy

Thanks,

Phil
